What is dye sublimation printing? Dye sublimation is the most advanced fabric printing technology available in the market today. It uses high levels of heat and pressure to create images with sharp and accurate details as well as vivid and vibrant colours. In our particular process, we first print an image in its mirror likeness on heat-resistant transfer paper. The paper is then pressed onto the fabric using a special pressing machine. The heat and the pressure coming from the machine sublimates the ink – that is, forces the ink to change from solid to gas, completely skipping the liquid state. As the ink is in its gaseous state, it permeates the fabric.
The end result is a printout that has accurate details and rich colours. Moreover, the printout is permanent and resistant to damage. It will not fade nor crack even when washed or dry-cleaned.
